Madeira Promotion Bureau Selects Louis Karno & Company as US Agency of Record

Concord, NH- The Madeira Promotion Bureau has selected Louis Karno & Company Communications as its U.S. agency of record for public relations services for the Madeira travel brand. The Concord, NH, firm will launch a national campaign to reacquaint American travelers with the Island of Madeira. The effort will include national outreach, messaging and research.

Louis Karno has represented several Portuguese clients including the Tourism Office and Azores Airlines.

The semitropical Portuguese island of Madeira lies in the Atlantic Ocean, 750 miles southwest of Lisbon. The local climate is warm in winter and never too hot in summer, and with the usual abundance of sun. Madeira and its capital of Funchal have been supplying visitors with botanical gardens, palaces, resorts and fascinating landscapes since it was discovered in 1420. World-class hotels sit on black cliffs, and casinos, nightclubs, and restaurants give any nightlife potential to be exciting. Meanwhile, Madeira’s steep pitch gives the island six distinct climate zones, based on altitude. This also means there is some worthwhile hiking, with trails that follow water channels (called "levadas") past waterfalls to spectacular views.

The Madeira Promotion Bureau promotes Madeira as a unique travel destination, with a focus on the travel trade. The Madeira Promotion Bureau is a non-profit association founded in August 2004 by a public entity and a private entity – the Regional Tourism Board and the Funchal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. www.apmadeira.pt/en/
